BT SIM only deals ... Very cheap deals with extras.
Posted by: Kingy - 05-17-2017, 09:10 AM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (7)

Just thought I'd share. We've had Tesco sims for years. £10 a month on the O2 network and no problems at all. Finding we need more data nowadays, especially as the kids tend to hammer it and use their allowance up in the first week of the month  Rolleyes. Tesco deal is 1.25 gig of data, 500 minutes talk, 200 text. Gave Tesco the opportunity to match the BT deal but they were way off. Checked Plusnet (BT retail side), O2, EE, 3 and others, but all more expensive that BT for SIM deals.

So, have just got PAC codes and am moving us to a BT family SIM deal.
BT use the EE (used to be Orange) network.

It is ...

x5 SIM cards.
6GB Data
Unlimited BT wifi, unlimited minutes talk, unlimited text.
They are throwing in free BT Sports app and a £90 Amazon voucher. Not arsed about BT Sports, but £90 voucher - yes please.

Cost: £49 a month in total ... or £9.80 per SIM card per month.

One SIM is tied into a 12 month contract and the other four are on 30 day rolling contracts.

You can have less SIMs and there are cheaper deals, bur I can't find anyone coming close to matching this.

Details here: BT SIM only deals webpage

  Of to Bath
Posted by: jollyjoiner - 05-16-2017, 07:46 PM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (8)

As the title says Me and my good lady are off to Baaaaath the end of June for a long weekend away.

Some of you may remember Acca on our old Monkey site, he was the one that lived near Cadwell and had the moggy minor convertible.

Well he sold up and moved out to Bathampton which is a mile and half out of bath and said if I was ever passing to call in and see him. Well we did this about 18 months ago on our way back from devon and had a few hours with him and had a quick visit into Baaaaath.

He kindly said that he would be happy to put us up for a weekend if we wanted to come over and explore more of the place so we've took him up on his kind offer.

He may have a few things planned for us and will be showing us the sites and will also be booking us in for an afternoon tea at the Royal Crescent hotel

Other things for me to have a go at is a paddle into Baaaaath in his canoe as his back door is only 20ft from the canal and it runs right down the length of his garden so that should be fun.

Anyone else been to Baaath for the weekend ??

  Spotify 3 months for 99p ...
Posted by: Kingy - 05-16-2017, 02:30 PM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (6)

https://www.spotify.com/uk/intro/

3 months Spotify 99p. Nowt wrong with that. App is good and the service excellent. I'm currently on family plan Amazon Music, but may add this because it's cheap and I like the app format.

If you have had a previous trial a different email address and payment method to last time will work for another trial.

New Email Scam - "Law Abiding Citizen"
Posted by: Kingy - 04-04-2017, 08:16 AM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (2)

I know most will just delete these, but having seen someone ask if this email has any authenticity on another forum, and with this warning being sent by the Derbyshire Police due to it's success I thought I'd share ....

Quote:Fraudsters are sending out a high volume of phishing emails to personal and business email addresses, pretending to come from various email addresses, which have been compromised.

The subject line contains the recipient’s name, and the main body of text is as below:

“Hi, [name]!

I am disturbing you for a very serious reason. Although we are not familiar, but I have significant amount of individual info concerning you. The thing is that, most likely mistakenly, the data of your account has been emailed to me.

For instance, your address is:

[real home address]

I am a law-abiding citizen, so I decided to personal data may have been hacked. I attached the file – [surname].dot that I received, that you could explore what info has become obtainable for scammers. File password is – 2811

Best Wishes,”

The emails include an attachment – a ‘.dot’ file usually titled with the recipient’s name.

This attachment is thought to contain the Banking Trojan Ursniff/Gozi, hidden within an image in the document. The Ursniff Banking Trojan attempts to obtain sensitive data from victims, such as banking credentials and passwords. The data is subsequently used by criminals for monetary gain.

Iphone 6S+ or 7 ... Worth the money?
Posted by: Kingy - 04-03-2017, 04:59 PM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (12)

Daughter wants one for her 16th birthday in a couple of weeks.

Looking at either a 6S+ or a 7 standard. (Both 128 Gig, both same price through Apple sim free).

Anyone using one and can review?

If so, is the bigger handset ok to use or too big?

Any must have accessories?
I'm assuming a good case and screen protector and possibly Apple cover (or whatever its called) for 2 years. Aliya is off to college in Manchester later this year, plus does camps and activities with Cadets a fair bit so there is a chance it could get a battering one way or another.

Oh, and what size sim do they take as I may need to order a new one before hand if its stupidly small.

Cheers all.  Cool

  Busy weekend

Wow I bet everyone must have been busy this weekend with the lack of new posts (again)

I'll start by saying I have still been going down to the pond local to me at 7.30am for a spot of bird watching and I'm now on 68 different species of birds Smile

Are you still awake ?????

If you are then on Saturday evening we went out for a meal with the outlaws for their 50th wedding anniversary.

Sunday was more early twitching then the rest of the day doing nothing but sitting around doing my shoulder exercises (after my terrible mountain bike accident) and taking the painkillers and sulking.

Right you next ??

  Any advice?
Posted by: FraserG - 02-23-2017, 11:13 AM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (17)

So I need to replace the front brakes on the YBR (still saving up for the bigger bike Sad )  and am thinking of doing it myself because:
1) The bike is getting on now and saving up for a bigger bike means it will soon not be needed
2) I have a car so if I feck this up it's not the end of the world
3) Good experience gainer by spending a weekend doing the job
4) It seems like it'll be fun - I've been spending far too much time on the computer at a weekend over winter so getting into the garage will be a good change of scenary
5) I still want the bike to get to work pending the bigger bike and I want it to do so safely, rather than risk something going wrong

Now, having never done brakes before, I thought I'd check with you experienced lot for what I should, or should not, be doing.

For reference, I'll be replacing the disc and the pads.

I have a toolbox with tools in it which I use for the general maintenance (chain adjustment, etc.), but should I be looking at any specialty tools for this job? I have allen keys, spanners, screwdrivers, hammers and tape measures, but is there anything else?

And finally, any do's or don'ts with this/anecdotes that might assist me in the job?

  Football linked to brain damage
Posted by: FraserG - 02-15-2017, 09:48 AM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (6)

Ok, so clickbait title to get certain people in the thread Tongue

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-38971750

New report by the BBC following an anecdotal study that links 'heading footballs' to an increased chance of dementia in footballers. This may go some way to explaining why some of them are as thick as they are - it's literally one too many balls to the head! As a study, using anecdotal evidence isn't overly compelling though no doubt they've done some fancy stats to justify their claim. Will be interesting to see what (if any) proper follow-up study has to say on the subject.
