Well I took delivery of a new tv on Friday.
We had a 50" Led Samsung that was coming up to 5 years old and had suddenly developed a couple of purple patches on the screen. Now these could only be seen on a light image but very annoying when there. Did the usual google search and this seemed to be a common fault which could cost many pounds to repair so I though fook it may as well get a new one.

After going to the usual first choice shop (Currys) to see whats now out there we could see there was one make that seemed to stand out more and that was a Sony Bravia. https://www.richersounds.com/tv-projecto...096bu.html Now this one was a 55" 4K tv with You View which is freeview tv, google play and was Android based. I believe it's a side lit led tv which most seem to be now. So after some more searching to see what  deals were out there we ended up ordering one online from Richer Sounds. Now these were the same price as Currys at £699 but came with a 6 year warranty instead of everyone else's 5 year warranty.

Well what can I say about the picture ? well it's bloody fantastic. We have watched  a downloaded 4K film and also watch The Grand Tour on Amazon Tv in 4K format too and wow the picture is sharp.

Like most people that have a slim led tv they know the sound is crap because there is no room in them for good speakers but we already had  a Sony soundbar with wireless Sub and they seem to complement each other very well.

Any plans for Christmas?

I had a sales meeting last week and was reminded I still have 8.5 days to take ... or lose as they can't be carried over.

So, I will be working for half of December and thats about it!  Big Grin

Have booked a villa in Tenerife for the week before Christmas. 3 beds/ 3 bathrooms/ pool/ rooftop garden.  Cool Fly in on 17th, grab a car at the airport and then drive to the villa. Taking my Mum with us as she spent last Christmas in hospital so we are wanting to end this year in a better place (literally!).
Get back Christmas Eve, then enjoy xmas day (dragging my Mum up to ours for dinner), friends around for Boxing Day then Yaz working until New year so I have the house to myself.  Angel

So, if anyone is reading ... What you upto?

  BLOODY HELL.....WHERE'S THE TIME GONE?
Posted by: RogerC - 09-24-2018, 11:54 AM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (27)

Hello people.....just scrolling through my 'old' computer pages and realised I've not got onto TM in aeons.

So where have I been all this time?
Well...Australia, New Zealand and Thailand for Feb, March, April, May up to mid June.  Got back and within 4 weeks had sold the motorhome, sold the car and bought another car and a caravan.  Yes a caravan...because we're not getting any younger we needed the space and more importantly the comfort we didn't have in the motorhome.  Plus it got me a 4wd Tiguan.  SWMBO drew the line at a Tuareg....boohoo.
Anyway in the interim....twixt the end of June and now we have been on our wanderings...and yet more upheaval has happened.  All but one of my bikes has gone....there's a clearout of trackday stuff going on and we are looking to move!!!  The house went on the market last week and we are 'looking'.......somewhere ooop north so beware folks.....hehe

Anyway......sorry for letting TM slide from my consciousness and in between all the goings on I will try to remember you're here more often.

I trust everyone is well, healthy, happy and likewise their families.

Been in my "new" job just over a year.
Posted by: Kingy - 08-06-2018, 06:00 PM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - No Replies

And what a reckon year!  Rolleyes

But yes, a year has passed and they haven't (yet) got shut of me.  Big Grin

I've found it very hard at times. Not the job itself. That is challenging, but it's no fun if it's easy!  The hard bit has been working for someone else and spending quite a bit of time away from home when I've had 24 years of working for myself under 3 miles from home. I've considered leaving a few times - to take a couple of months out and then retrain or start a business up (I have a couple of ideas that I think would work well for me). Decided to stick with it and here we are a year later. Main reason being that the people I work with are a very good lot. My boss manages me very well ... She just leaves me to it!

Didn't have a holiday last year and haven't so far this year. All days taken have been used to sort out the factory/ my Dads estate. Yaz has put her foot down and we are having our first family holiday at the end of this month. Must admit I'm feeling tired now and am ready for a break so I'm looking forward to it.

Not bothering with Facefook I don't get to see all the idiots advertising empty houses, so thought I'd ask the idiots on here Smile

We are a catalan family company. From the beginning, on September 2010, Sushibo has been the operating brand of Harakirifish SL in Barcelona. Our passion for authentic, fresh Japanese cooking has brought us to connect with an extensive base of clients, as well as [Image: 1523338965_banner_2.jpg] hotels and several businesses all around the city. As a healthy and nutritious food, due to its low fat levels and high protein content, our sushi is made fresh daily in our kitchen. We cover an extensive range of services: we own two restaurants, besides the take away & delivery service, an online food shop, catering service and private parties hosting. Our team is always growing (we are 15 by now) to make our tasks possible 365 days per year. Each of both restaurants has its own character. Sushibo Mitre is a modern, functional space near Lesseps square, from where we prepare and manage our delivery service, besides the take away & food shop. Mitre also works as a restaurant, with a large sushi selection and hot dishes. Sushibo Casanova is a welcoming space in the heart of the Eixample. Its menu contains several hot and cold dishes as well as the specialty which make us unique: the Sushiexperience, an assorted dish of creative sushi prepared particularly for each table. Our sushi and hot dishes are elaborated with high sushibo casanova quality ingredients which are selected from the best suppliers in the market (both national and international). The experience and knowledge of our chefs make possible the creation of an extensive variety of dishes, from the traditional ones to the most creative. We have strict food handling protocols to guarantee that our ingredients are in perfect sanitary conditions. All our ingredients are fresh and flavorsome thanks to the right conservation as is requested by regulation. In our shop you will find all the necessary to prepare sushi at home, from rice and sauces to an extensive selection of seaweeds (perfect for vegetarians). We also offer Sushi workshops and wine tastings, that’s why we recommend you to take a look on our website and also to visit us sometime!

I've been using one for a while. I'm on target for a fair bit over 40k miles this year so I reckon it's probably a good idea.
I've had mixed experiences so far. I'm about to try my fourth. Two went wrong (annoying sd card errors). One cheap one has been great, but I'm just about to try a better one with more features.

Anyone else using one?
