  Jim the swift
Posted by: croweman - 08-14-2015, 11:40 AM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (6)

I found a downed Swift down the side of my house on wednesday, at first I didnt realise what type of bird it was having never seen the elusive Swift up close. After some google searching by my daughter we discovered what it was an the potential reasons for it being on the ground.

To be honest it didn't look very alert when I first picked it up so it was a long shot but myself and my son tried to nurse it back to health syrInge feeding it water and trying to get it to eat insects, I did try to get it to fly a couple of time but it was having none of it.

So sadly Jim the Swift passed in his sleep watching jackass in my sons hand on Thursday morning at 2am farewell Jim.

He's alive and well enjoying the warmth of my sons hand in the photo.

  Cracking jump start
Posted by: FraserG - 08-11-2015, 09:04 AM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (3)

'twas at Brands this weekend just gone for Bemsee on the GP loop. On Sunday, just about to start the YPM (Yamaha Past Master's) race when the guy in 4th (second row) suddenly goes when the lights come on. But he doesn't pull away very quickly so we assume clutch problem and abort the start to allow him to pull off safely. Instead, while the rest of the grid waits with the aborted start, the guy carries on. Apparently thinking he would be receiving a jump start penalty he opted to get head down and start racing to make up the seconds from the penalty! He was haring off up to Druids while the rest of the grid (and me in race control) were confused as to where he thought he was going. Luckily, we quickly identified from his body position that he was in race mode so we red flagged him before he piled into the back of the grid!

It was just quite funny watching him mess up the start but decide to carry on anyway xD In for a penny and all that!

Nothing finer than when you've had a busy week and going to have a busy weekend and thats to have a blow out on a take away curry (well delivered to the door) Smile
Meat samosas with some lime pickle
Garlic chilli chicken
Onion pilau
Peshwari naan
Can on Carling Smile

God I'm full.
In fact I'm that full it could be like that monty python sketch when the big fat bloke is asked if he would like a waffer thin mint and he replies "f**k off I'm full hahaha

Was going to go out on mountain bike before the feast but was just too tired.
Early Sunday morning will be my next outing on the road bike before carrying on with work for the rest of the day.

  Throttlemonkey Mobile Phone/Tablet Android App
Posted by: Kingy - 07-31-2015, 11:32 AM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (7)

For anyone wanting to view and post on the Monkey forum when using their mobile phone or tablet you can download a free app at the Google Play Store which works perfectly. It is called 'EZ Forum' App and works with the latest (current 1.8) version of the forum software we run.

The link to the app is here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/detai...m&hl=en-GB

How to add the Throttlemonkey forum to the EZ app. (It's very very simple)

Once you have downloaded the app, open it.

Press '+' which is at the top of the screen.

Fill in ....

Forum Name: Throttlemonkey

Forum URL: http://dw4n.com/ThM/index.php

Untick the 'Guest Login' box an fill in your forum Username and Password.

Thats it  Cool

Throttemonkey will now be on the 'Forum List' when you open the app.
Press it and the forum will load.
Press 'The Two Wheeled Monkey Forum' and you will get a drop down list of all of the forums.

There are two 'quirks' worth mentioning.

If you load the General Chat and banter forum it has two sub forums, so to see threads you need to press 'THREADS' and they will load.

In order to post a reply to a thread press 'QUOTE'. You can either leave the quoted thread there or delete it when you post.

Amazon Prime - Just added free music streaming.
Posted by: Kingy - 07-30-2015, 11:27 AM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - No Replies

Just a heads up.

If you have an Amazon Prime Account free music streaming has just been added.

It's £79 a year.
For that you get a few benefits. The ones I use regularly are:

Free 'Prime' next day delivery. (I use Amazon a lot for purchases as their returns policy is excellent).
Prime Streaming (Films / TV Series)
Music Streaming.

There are other bits (Eg. kindle downloads/lending library, Prime photos and special 'prime only' offers).

You can try Prime free for a month to see if you would use it enough. Just make sure you cancel before the trial ends.

I got it by default (didn't cancel the trial - Doh!), but in truth will probably keep it on as I do use the next day delivery a fair bit, intermittently use the film/tv streaming and since it launched this week have been using the music streaming. It's worth a look if any of this seems appealing.

Police Interview with a bike thief. Interesting reading and some good tips.
Posted by: Kingy - 07-29-2015, 09:15 AM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (10)

An insight into the mind of a bike thief. Good read and fair warning to anyone who keeps their pride and joy in a locked shed ...

Few excerpts:

Quote:it’s what I did for a job. I’d go out every night for hours and hours. I’d go out during the day and do the spotting but all the stealing was done at night. Often I had orders, I knew loads of people, I was known as the ‘bike man’ and people would introduce me to someone who wanted a bike. The rest of it went on Gumtree.

Quote:If the bike had a good lock on it that I couldn’t get off there and then I’d use the angle grinder when I got home. Wire locks aren’t worth bothering with, there’s not a wire lock I can’t crop. D locks are the thing you should have but most people don’t lock bikes in the shed. Why do people spend hundreds, even thousands on a bike and then buy a lock from Poundland? There are some locks that are so poor you can open them with your bare hands. I took one that was padlocked to a lamppost just by wrenching the bike away. The lock just fell off.

  Sky HD
Posted by: jollyjoiner - 07-29-2015, 07:09 AM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (5)

Well I've gone and done it, now subscribed to get all the Sky HD channels for an extra £6 a month :Sad
I've resisted for so long but after watching the free HD channels like bbc 1 bbc 2 and itv it just had to happen.
I have got it for £3 for the first 6 months which is not much of a saving but at least it's something.
We also now get to download boxsets of loads of tv programs.

And I know Kingy will come back and say you need to get this futarba system and use this and that program to watch everthing but it all costs more and this is just an easier way doing it Tongue

  Did something change?
Posted by: FraserG - 07-28-2015, 01:02 AM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (13)

Some of you may have noticed a new layout. This is due, in part, to a forum upgraded I performed last night to move us onto the latest version software for the forum. Unfortunately, our previous template was incompatible, so I've stuck these theme on for the time being until a suitable replacement can be found (trust me, the incompatibilities with the old forum made vomit look good).

Hope everyone likes the new layout and updated software.

Some more additions will be added shortly - watch this space!
