I said pretty much the same in the TV series thread after watching it. Too many implausible decisions made by characters who have been built up to be meticulous and cunning. (Leave a dead body for someone else to tidy up and not expect there to be ramifications ... ?! WTF).
Plus the plan to get the pardons just seemed too cute when explained in hindsight. A power mad narcissist would not have gone to that much trouble and detail ... to lose power.
I felt it was lazy writing where characters actions were altered to suit the writers immediate plans rather than the direction they would/should have taken based on the previous series.
Like you, I'm struggling to see where they can go with series 6.

Though you can't spoil what the writers spoiled.....

The whole bringing him in from Conway was odd as well. For people that need to know everything (like an alcohol addiction) to suddenly trust someone who'd been campaigning for the opposition like that, and as you say, to clear up a pretty big mess, just seemed so implausible. So many chances for that to be leaked to the media and ruin the whole thing. And to then put trust in your wife when she already tried to run against you in the season 4 campaigning for that end of season issue was stupid. Why would you do that, it just makes no sense.

Designated Survivor (which finished recently for S1) was far better than HOC was for S5.

Yes, agree on all counts.
I enjoyed Designated Survivor. It had just enough sub plots going and was just the right side of far fetched (at times) to keep you engaged. Plus Maggie Q is a horny little minx Wink

I'm still here, not as often as I'd like. But I'm like a bad penny you just can't lose.
