Guide: This episode is the second of a three part story which started with Utopia (episode 11) and ends with the Last of the Time-Lords (episode 13).
The episode begins with the Doctor, Martha and Captain Jack Harkness landing in London, 2007. They soon find out that the Master is Harold Saxon, the new Prime Minister for Great Britain.
The Master puts the Doctor, Martha and Jack onto the terroist watch alert, so that they can't stop him, but he also says that he has had contact from an alien race, the Toclafane.
But the Doctor knows that the Toclafane don't exist, they were a made up race for a nursery rhyme on Gallifrey. But when he tries to find out more, he knows he needs to be hidden, so he takes Jack's TARDIS key, Martha's TARDIS key and his own, and uses the TARDIS' perception filter to ensure they can move around almost unseen.
The trio goes to an airport where the Master is, and finds he has taken the Jones' family captive, but they all go onto a UNIT aircraft carrier, the Valiant to meet the Toclafane. The Doctor, Jack and Martha follow.
On board, they find the TARDIS has been turned into a paradox machine, set to go off at 2 minutes past 8 in the morning exactly, and when they find the Master, they watch one of the Toclafane kill the President-Elect of America.
As the trio go to try and stop the Master, Jack is caught and killed (but then comes back to life again), The Doctor is caught, and Martha is able to go to Jack. Jack gives her his teleportation device as the Master ages the Doctor 900 years.
The episode ends with Martha teleporting off the ship, saying she'll be back to save them.
