Berlin Baby ... - Kingy - 10-13-2016

OK. Have a lads (& Robinson) weekend jolly coming up in mid November. We are off to Berlin.

From what I understand we are in a hotel in Friedrichshain, which is supposedly a bit like the Northern Quarter of Manchester.
Already have some ideas on what we want to do - TV Tower, Berlin Wall and Astro Bar have been mentioned. Would love to get over the Tuefelsberg Field Station (NSA Spy Station) but its a bit too far so unlikley.

Anyone been to Berlin and have any must do's?

What good is a spy station if everyone knows where it is? Tongue

Not been to Berlin but it's somewhere I want to go (at some point - or a round tuit!). I imagine there's a decent war museum there if you're into that sort of history stuff, and knowing the Germans it probably comes attached to a pub!

Watch it. They can still hear you you know!  Wink

Yes - there are a few museums and places of interest based around the war. Want to go see 'Checkpoint Charlie' as I've been told thats really interesting ... and there is beer.  Cool

Checkpoint Charlie sounds good, look forward to some photos if you go!

A chocolate teapot outranks JJ - you can eat a chocolate teapot and thus it has some use! Tongue

Try google search for 'Berlin tunnels'.  IIRC there is the possibility of taking a 'tour' to see these......and that would be something a bit special  (well it would for me....[Image: digging.gif]....hehe)

Cheers Rog. Will look into that.
Whilst google'ing the tunnels I read about the Flak Towers. This gives plenty of pics and some info on them ...

One is till standing (sort of) in Berlin and quite easy to visit so will add that to the list too - along with Kollhof Tower and Siegessaule shown on this list:

My brother popped in work yesterday. He arranged the trip, but realised (luckily before Friday morning) that he had not checked in online. Queue big rush to get all the details last night. Not my brother as he is a luddite. Thats why he popped in. To tell me it NEEDED DOING! Smile

And yes - Will do Nige. With me looking after him, what could possibly go wrong Wink
