  New Year plans?
Posted by: FraserG - 12-30-2014, 12:43 PM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (11)

What are everyone's plans for the new year then? What resolutions are you all thinking of making (for example 'I must not say how I broke my leg so much in 2015'? Tongue )?

I will be seeing in new years most likely on me tod cause I'm still in my new house decorating and moving stuff from the old place (how does so much crap accumulate?!?) and trying to complete my coursework for early January deadlines (not being helped by the new fibre optic broadband and Tivo box that currently has 12 episodes of NCIS recorded for me that are infinitely more interesting than the coursework).

As for resolutions I think I'm going to steer clear of the unachievable ones like losing weight (it's just too much effort for the hours I work) but might replace it with just a bit more healthier eating (which is a shame cos the local fish and chip shop does a deliciously cheap meal on Tuesdays...) and perhaps try and have a proper holiday for the first time. The only holiday I've had off work since I started has been these two Christmas weeks (not including the odd Friday for a test day marshalling) which I've spent decorating and stressing over coursework. So I think it's time to book a proper holiday where I cut off from all forms of work and maybe sun it up on a beach. But we'll see, time will tell!

What about the rest of you then? Anyone going to London for a knees up?

Simplz,
As the title says.
It's been a good year for Rickster and Ziggy.
I hope you all have been as fortunate as we have.
We're planning on the Dickenzian chrimbo with the goose etc. We'll Have both kids and thier partners plus my grand daughter. So it'll be a riot.
I'm so looking forward to it, plus the magnum of champagne and other bottles of associated liquid love will certainly make life more cheerful.

  Back off hols.......

Hi peeps,
Just looking in after a spur of the moment decision to grab a week summer sun. We are in a holiday club and had a week to use, or lose before Jan so a week in Tenerife was sorted. Cheapo flight from Bristol(£52 each return), lovely apartment, hire car and 'some sun' got us sorted ...oh and quite a few evening G&T's did the trick. Temperatures were OK..........20+ every day so not scorching but loads better than home here, a few days overcast but lets face it you're not going to get the full on holiday tan in a week anyway.

So back home again now to bloody cold and wet..........all looks quiet on here so I hope everyone is busy getting sorted for the season to be merry........

  Business or baggage class
Posted by: Rick - 12-06-2014, 09:21 PM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (6)

Well guys and gals,
Having flown my first true long haul business class fare with Ziggy I have to say this.

If you can beg steal or borrow the cash then go business. Economy is the total shit method of travelling after experiencing the upper half.

Anybody who says save the money and spend it on your arrival is a knob. The flights were amazing, I totally fucking dread flying baggage class with work now I realise how much better it can really be.
Roll on our next posh holiday.

Views peeps ?

We've sold our house...the stresses of moving?
Posted by: nuggiebok - 12-03-2014, 02:34 AM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (33)

After about a month of being on the market we accepted an offer on Friday, AND had our offer accepted on what will hopefully be our new house, the very next day.

It's less than a mile up the road, but closer to Feen Big Grin

The school run will take longer, and I'll have to resist taking the car unless it really is gopping weather. It's a much bigger house and the kitchen/diner is amazing!

Hopefully will be in by February :-)

  Automatic or stick shift ?
Posted by: Rick - 11-30-2014, 09:26 PM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (18)

Well, Ziggy and I arrived back to earth with a bump this morning.

I've been driving a X1 automatic last week. I have to say I was stunningly unimpressed. It handled ok enough. The automatic great change was pants; especially since it was only a 2 ltr. It was clearly designed fore eco mode so it shifted into a high a gear as possible far too quickly. Damn i loathed it, plus there was sod all room in the boot, I had to remove the cover thing in the back to get our cases in. Plus the switches were just so cheap and tacky it was really sad.
I would have to agree with Clarkson, if you buy this thing your a turnip. It was shit.

I use FF33.1, this is the only site where I have to enable 3rd party cookies to log in (hence I dont log in often as 'm lazy)
Why would that be then?

Beware folks anyone who has BT broadband and also therefore gets free BT sports. Check your bill I checked mine and had started to be charged for BT sports HD package, you do as they say get BT sports free of charge as long as you are a broadband customer. But at no point was I made aware of any charges for a HD package.

Even when the cheery gent rang me in July and said will you be wanting free BT sports again this year, yes of course I replied. Well all you have to do is remain a broadband customer and you will get BT sports free of charge. Still no mention of any extra charges. No email warning me this might happen, nothing on previous bills telling me to expect this limited offer to run out.

Check your bills folks dont get caught out.

  Mighty Text - Android
Posted by: FraserG - 11-25-2014, 02:58 PM - Forum: General Chat and Banter and Sillyness! Anything goes. - Replies (14)

Something you guys might or might not have seen.

I'm a very fast computer typist (>100wpm on tests) but don't enjoy the autocorrect (which could be turned off I know) or keyboard on phones these days (they're too small).

So something to help is a free app called MightyText (links below). It links your android phone to a web based application to allow you to send and receive text messages (and phone notifications) on your computer. Obviously you do need internet connection to your phone (through mobile data or wifi) but if you have unlimited data (most plans offer this these days) then this might be for you.

I've been using it for a week and so far so good.

There are two links, one which will give me a referral credit if you signed up/used the app from, and a normal one (so you can chose to not give me referral credit if you don't want).

Referral link - http://mightytext.net/RbonEeB
Non-ref link - http://mightytext.net

Hopefully this is of use to some of you? Particularly factory managers who might spend more time on their computer than dealing with (work) texts?
