Series 4 (2008)

Episode title: Midnight
Featuring: Tenth Doctor
Companions: Donna Noble
First shown: 14th June 2008
Guide: This episode is different to any other episode yet shown in recent years of Doctor Who, for this episode features very little screen time of the companion (Donna). This has only been done a couple of times before, in the Classic series.

The episode starts on a luxury planet of Midnight, a kind of spa/leisure centre for priviledged people of the universe. Donna is relaxing, sunbathing, while the Doctor finds a space ship is going out on a field trip. He decides to go with them, but Donna declines.

The journey to the place which the passengers are visiting is short, with some flash scenes of activities that are going on. But as they near the end of the journey, the ship stops unexpectedly. The Doctor goes to find out why in the drivers hold, and the driver tells him that there isn't any reason for it, but they have called for help.

Then a knocking sound is heard on the hull of the ship, going all of the way round. When someone knocks on the side, the thing on the other side knocks back. Until it knocks through the ship and into the passenger area. But nothing gets in. No one gets out. Or so they think.

Skye, one of the passengers, starts crouching in the corner and not moving. Not speaking. Until the Doctor starts talking. Then the other passengers start talking. And Skye starts copying them. This continues for some time, until the Doctor gets down in front of her, and says a lot of random words like "TARDIS" "Rose" "Donna" "Martha" "Gallifrey" but each time Skye repeats, at the same time as the Doctor. He can't work out why.

Until Skye starts speaking first. Then the Doctor starts repeating Skye, but Skye is using words only the Doctor would use. But the Doctor starts to become immobile and Skye starts moving around, rallying the other passengers to throw the Doctor off the ship. Until Skye uses a French word that the Doctor previously used, and she pulls Skye out of the ship with her, allowing the Doctor to be freed.

The ship is rescued with the remaining passengers, and the Doctor and Donna leave for their next adventure.

Also, Rose Tyler is seen in this episode (like in the Poison Sky (series 4, episode 5)) on a TV screen, but the Doctor has his back to it and doesn't spot her.
