Guide: The Time-Lords intercept the Doctor and his companions using a transmat beam. They take them to the planet Skaro where they are informed that the Time-Lords have looked into the future, and it is ruled by Daleks.

So the Time-Lords give the Doctor a mission. Avert the creation of the Daleks, or alter their genetic make-up to make them less emotionless, or find a weakness. And Skaro is where it all began.

Skaro is in the middle of long, long war between it's humanoid inhabitants - the Thals, and the Kaleds. It is the Kaleds chief scientist, Davros, who creates the Daleks. The Daleks were built to win the war, and protect the Kaled race.

However, the Doctor fails in all three options. But he does slow their development. The Thals blow up the Kaled bunker, trapping the Daleks, but not ultimatly stopping them. The Doctor then uses a time ring, that was given to him by the Time-Lords to get back to the TARDIS.
